Computer Power Supply

Power supply of the computer supplies power to a computer. A power supply converts 100-240 V AC Power (Depending on the power supplied by the power companies) from the mains to low-voltage DC power ( + 5 VDC & +12 VDC)for the internal components of the computer. Normally Power Supplies has the switch to change between 230 V and 115 V. Some power supplies also come with automatic sensors that switch input voltage automatically, or are able to accept any voltage between those limits.
Today power supplies are built in ATX form factor .The Watts of the power supply ranges from 300 W to 500 W for the normal computers. For server machines and the systems having multiple processors ,many hard discs and multiple graphic cards ,the power supply is upto 2KW .When you look in side of a power supply ,you will see a complex arrangement of electrical components, including diodes ,transistors , transformers ,capacitors and resistances .Heat sinks are used to absorb head and fans are used for cooling and ventilation.
